High-Resolution Color + 3D Scanning
At the core of the nDepth Rip system is our custom sensor developed specifically for wood applications. Each system captures detailed color information while simultaneously measuring the three-dimensional characteristics of the board. Standard systems utilize 8-megapixel imaging, while an optional 13-megapixel high-resolution configuration provides additional image detail for demanding applications. The system can identify and evaluate:

Advanced AI Defect Detection/Classification + Powerful On-System Image Processing
nDepth incorporates our custom nAble AI platform, a fully integrated deep-learning system powered by NVIDIA GPU technology. nAble AI provides powerful tools for identifying and classifying defects within scanned lumber. Because defect requirements can vary significantly by species, grade, product, and manufacturing process, the system can be customized and trained around the defects that matter most to your operation.
Capabilities include:
This allows nDepth to move beyond simple image inspection and provide information that can be directly incorporated into rip optimization and grading decisions.
High-resolution image and 3D data are processed by an integrated image-processing system capable of extracting the information required for defect analysis and optimization.
Combining the sensor, processing hardware, and nAble AI platform provides a complete scanning solution capable of converting raw board imagery into actionable production data.

Typical throughput capabilities include:
Length Options:
The system performs static board measurement at the scanning position and can be adapted to different material-handling arrangements. nDepth systems are available for common lumber processing lengths, with sensor configurations scaled to the required scanning area.
While commonly configured for lateral scanning applications, nDepth technology can also be applied to lineal scanning configurations where required.
- Single-Sided Scanning - Approximately 16–20 boards per minute
- Double-Sided Scanning Approximately 12–15 boards per minute with a single-flipper configuration
- High-Performance Double-Sided Scanning can achieve production rates of up to 25 boards per minute, depending on material handling and system configuration. This usually requires an additional pin stop and photoeye.
